Engelbert Farms is a certified organic farm in Nichols, NY, farming in the same location since 1911. It is a true family farm with six family members making their living on the farm. Sons Joe and John represent the 5th generation at this location. Engelbert Farms has been farming organically since 1981, and certified organic since 1984. Cheese is made from the milk of organic, crossbreed cows who are on pasture from April through November. The Engelberts proudly point out they make their living “with” their cows, not “from” them! Farm store is open Friday and Saturday from 10 to 3, year round. Special extended hours for Finger Lakes Cheese Trail open house dates.

At Finger Lakes Dexter Creamery, LLC, they practice the tradition of kefir culture. They are pleased to introduce an artisanal, farmstead kefir cheese, cultured with living kefir grains and handcrafted with the creamy raw milk from their grass fed and pastured Irish Dexter cows.

Jerry Dell Farm is located in Dryden with their farm store located in Freeville, just north east of Ithaca. Started in 1946 by Gerald and Ardella Sherman in the scenic hills of Dryden, New York, Jerry Dell Farm is still family owned and operated. In 2010, they opened a second location in Freeville, New York to expand our production. Combined, we currently milk over 450 cows of the 950-head herd of cows, heifers and calves. We are certified organic through the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York.   

Jerry Dell Farm Raw Milk Cheddar: A smooth, velvety texture organic raw milk cheese. Great for macaroni and cheese.

Shtayburne Farm in Rock Stream, NY produces Cheddars, Jacks and Fresh Curds. Over three generations of experience in dairy farming. It starts with dirt….good dirt, and the rich soil that they farm is among the richest in the Finger Lakes region.

Side Hill Acres Goat Farm is located in picturesque Candor, a short, scenic drive from Ithaca or Binghamton. Since 1987 Russell and Rita Kellog have been an established goat dairy. In 1994, they also became a goat cheese processing plant. As a family-operated goat dairy, they are committed to maintaining herd health as well as premium quality hand-crafted goat milk products. Tour the farm and go into the goat barn which contains 138 head of dairy goats. Mingle with the goats and learn how to milk a goat by hand! Tour the cheese plant and learn how their cheese is made. Taste their award-winning cheeses and cheese products. Shop their farm store for their cheeses and a wide variety of other local, artisan foods including fudge, gluten-free and organic foods, herbs, bulk foods, honey, maple syrup and more. They're open year round, nearly every day of the week!

Sunset View Creamery is located on Hoffarms Dairy, a century farm located outside of Odessa, New York, 15 minutes South of Watkins Glen. This Farmstead/Artisan Cheese Production Facility is operated, along with the farm, by the 4th and 5th generation of the Hoffman Family.

4 Tin Fish Farm, located in Conquest and just a short trip from Syracuse, is a family owned and operated micro goat dairy. The farm initially started out as a hobby, but as their passion grew, they began to shift their thinking as to how they might bring what they love to the public. Their goal is to provide farmstead cheese to local customers and raise quality Alpine dairy goats. Their cheeses are currently available at a select area retailers and farm markets including Bet the Farm Gourmet Food Market in Aurora, but with a week or so's notice, they will be happy to welcome you on their farm.

Heaven Scent Farm

Heaven Scent Farm is our furthest West farm, located in Cohocton, operated by Jerald Stewart, making flavored and plain Jacks. While the farm is a non-destination farm, meaning there are no visitations at the farm, they do have a seasonal roadstand in Cohocton where you can pick up their cheeses from May through October, in addition to several Finger Lakes Wineries and the Corning Summer & Winter Markets.

Keeley's Cheese Company, on the East side of Cayuga Lake, is home to McGarr Farms. Their grazing herd of Registered Holstein and Jersey cows produces the high quality milk that Keeley turns into her signature cheeses.  

PRODUCTS: Across the Pond: A semi-soft, washed rind cheese. Made from raw milk of Holstein and Jersey cows. Cave-aged over 60 days, this cheese is pleasantly pungent and super creamy, with a complex, earthy flavor.  
Across the Pond Reserve: A slightly firmer semi-soft cheese reminiscent of the tomme style, with a dry, brushed rind. Reserve is also made with raw milk, and its natural rind imparts a pleasantly nutty flavor. 
Maura: A semi-soft, washed-rind Irish style cheese.

Kenton's Cheese Co. is located in Trumansburg and is part of Burr-Ayr Dairy, a 6th generation dairy. This new addition to the trail brings brie and swiss! While there is no farm store on site, you can find their cheeses in many markets and wineries throughout the Finger Lakes. And you can visit the farm during Open Houses.

Cheeses: Bianco, a brie-style soft cheese. 
Pauline: Pauline: a Swiss Emmentaler 

Crosswinds Farm & Creamery | www.crosswindsfarmcreamery.com 

Crosswinds Farm & Creamery is located in Ovid, and can be identified easily by their white, hoop-style barn which is a local landmark! The Brown Swiss dairy cows that live there produce deliciously rich milk that is ideal for cheese making. Fresh & Alpine style cheeses are the focus, as well as gelato (whole milk ice cream). Their products are available on the farm and at many area retail locations (check website for complete listing).  

Morning Glory: A soft, fresh pasteurized cows' milk cheese with a rich texture and tangy flavor similar to chevre. It spreads nicely and can be used for baking, fillings, crumbles, or simply eaten out of the container!  -- plain & chive 
Butternut: A baby Swiss.

About: This is a traditional Amish country store and dairy located on the west shore of Seneca Lake. The store, located in a refurbished barn carries many of our cheeses along with other dairy products, homemade jams, jellies, fudge, baked goods and honey. You can also find a great selection of Amish furniture and quilts. And be sure to ask about their summer vacation rental: a beautiful farmhouse overlooking the lake!

About: A true destination winery located just off Cayuga Lake about 15 minutes north of Ithaca, Americana is a strong advocate of supporting local businesses. Their Café uses local seasonal ingredients in their from scratch kitchen. And the winery boasts over 30 award-winning wines. The winery hosts WHEY LOCAL SATURDAYS, the second Saturday of each month which features one of our Trail's cheesemakers, and hosts concerts every Friday (6-8) and Sunday (4-6) year round. About: The Stamp family has farmed the western shores of Seneca Lake for four generations. Drawing on their tradition of fine wine making techniques and modern technology the winery has won many top honors in the industry. As a farming family, the Stamps and their staff have always been supportive of the local agriculture and carry many local products, such as many of our cheeses, at their winery in support. A warm and inviting atmosphere awaits, less than 5 miles south of Shtayburne Farm.

About: Standing Stone is a vineyard based farm winery producing elegant, food-friendly wines based on well established vinifera. Located on the east side of Seneca Lake, the tasting room is large and spacious with spectacular views of the lake, making it a great stop for an informative wine tasting, a little locavore shopping, or a place to sit back and relax with a bottle of wine at the picnic tables out back overlooking the lake.

About: The Tones family has been growing grapes in the Finger Lakes for 5 generations, supplying grapes for juice and wine to many wineries. Now, as the new owners of Stever Hill Vineyards, they own a winery on beautiful Keuka Lake themselves and are big supporters of other local businesses as well. Come try their wines in their beautifully renovated tasting room, and pick up some of the cheeses from the trail in their wonderful wine shop.

About: Located on the west side of Seneca Lake, Villa Bellangelo's beautifully remodeled tasting room offers guests stunning panoramic views of the lake. The winery's vineyards are the oldest in Yates county and allows them to craft dry vinifera wines as well as their signature sparkling Moscato. The winery also offers a line of sweet blends under the Scooter wine label.
